My name is Natalia Uribe (she/they), I am a Latina Music Therapist, born and raised in Colombia. I moved to the United States in 2014 to follow my passion for music therapy, earning my bachelor’s degree from Pacific University in 2019. Through my schooling I had the honor of working with a wide variety of clients from all ages and (dis)abilities that showed me the profound impact that music has on individuals and their healing process. Simultaneously, in living in the United States I saw and experienced the systemic roots of oppression that creates barriers to mental health services, and the profound impact this has on communities of color, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
My ethical duty as a mental health professional is to reach out to these communities and break the barriers of access down, by offering high quality mental health services at an affordable price. It is also my duty as a professional to educate myself on systemic issues that affect my current and future clients, in order to truly be of service to them. My practice is based on a combination of humanistic and feminist approaches, through an anti-racist lens.
